pegandgun 52
Get it bought ian.King,Whats a pidgeon??Is it a cross between a pigeon and a partridge :11: No,just jopking.A p.magnet is a electricly powered device which spinns two 4-5 foot long, thin steel arms with two dead(decoy) pigeons on each end.Its used for decoying on green rape alot because it adds movement to the decoy pattern Quote Link to post
David 9
How do you know the birds wouldnt of decoyed without it Dave???? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i decoyed the same field a couple of weeks ago with the magnet and the birds seem to be turning away from it, me and ian tried that flapper in the same place and the birds seemed more commited to the decoys :search: Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,102
Pigeon magnets are like anything else ,great where the birds havnt seen one.Weve had more success recently with the rotary turned off and let the birds float up and down with the breeze. The decoy patern around the magnet has to be right with any wind.I find its best to face the decoys slightly into the wind, but not regimental, and leave a good open space on the downwind side of the magnet.Incoming birds need somewhere to land and prefer to land within a feeding flock{safety in numbers thing]Hopefully providing sport before they land! pegandgun 52
With pigeong becoming used to magnets try what ive been doing and put two magnets out and watch the results.Ive even tried three and we shot just short of 100 woodies that day.Mind you i still like a day with the plain pattern of dead birds but theres no getting away from the fact that during the winter months i shoot alot more woodies using magnets than i do without magnets Quote Link to post
